The Ultimate Vegan Labor Day Recipe

      Quinoa Feta Burgers

Can you believe it’s almost Labor Day? It feels like summer just started and already there is talk of back-to-school and autumn leaves. Well, before we say goodbye to summer, let’s make sure we have a Labor Day celebration filled with fun and yummy food.

There's no better way to toast to the end of a great summer and usher in brand new autumn like a Labor Day celebration. A holiday that is meant to honor the working people of the country, it's become a staple end-of-the-season celebration that lets friends and families get together one more time before the craziness of the fall season takes hold. It's an opportunity to enjoy the still-warm summer weather, an occasion to prove who is the best at lawn games once and for all, and a chance to turn the grill on one last time.

In most American homes, backyards brunches or BBQs are a summertime tradition, and the best part of every party planning is the menu. To help you end summer on a high note, Eco Party Warehouse prepared a delicious grilled recipe that will have you and your guests buzzing with delight. And of course, it is vegan - Quinoa Feta Burgers!

This recipe is easy to make and a great vegetarian alternative for classic meatballs or meat patties. Impressively high in protein and fiber and flaunting some serious Mediterranean flavor flair, these veggie burgers’ texture is hearty but not dry, they’re packed with fresh ingredients, they are fresh, filling, and exactly the meal you should make this Labor Day Party.

      Ingredients:

      • 1 teaspoon coarse salt
      • 2 egg whites, lightly whisked
      • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
      • 6 whole-wheat buns, grilled
      • Whole-grain mustard, for serving
      • Grilled onions, for serving
      • Radicchio, for serving

      Directions:

Step 1: In a bowl, mash beans into a thick paste and mix in shallot, carrot, quinoa, parsley, feta, salt, and egg whites.

Step 2: Form mixture into six patties and chill 30 minutes.

Step 3: Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a skillet over medium-high heat, directly on grill grates or on the stovetop, and cook patties until golden (add remaining tablespoon oil if cooking in batches), 4 to 5 minutes per side.

Step 4: Serve on buns with mustard, grilled onions, and radicchio.

      Notes:

      * For grilled onions, drizzle slices with oil, season with salt and pepper, and grill over medium-high heat, turning, until tender and charred, 6 to 8 minutes.
      * And make sure to serve these delicious burgers on Eco Party Warehouse's fabulous palm leaf dinner plates or palm leaf trays to complete an awesome eco-friendly experience and impress all your party guests.

      Labor Day Eco-Friendly Party Planning

Say goodbye to summer by throwing the best bash.

Long weekends tend to be a great time to host a party. Friends, family, and neighbors tend to have an extra day off from work or school, meaning that people are available for a relaxing get-together. As summer comes to an end, having a last big party outside can feel like an awesome close to the season. But, when you start planning your labor day party, however, you might not be thinking about how it could impact your environment.
Yes, we’re talking about an Eco-Friendly Labor Day party.

To make your Labor Day planning a little easier, Eco Party Warehouse has compiled a list of our favorites essentials for a summer party – but not just any essentials, the eco-friendly ones!

      Plates

No one wants to sit there and wash dishes after throwing a party, so it seems like a logical choice to just go pick up some paper plates at the store and throw it all in the garbage when you're done. Not so fast though. Whether it’s paper, foam, or plastic, that we choose - it seems that we are always losing the battle for the environment. So what other options do we have? Sugarcane! Yep, you heard me right. Sugarcane is a fast-growing, sustainable source of fibers that can be used to make what would usually be “paper” plates. And these fabulous sugarcane plates from Eco Party Warehouse will not only ensure that you’ve got plenty to go around but at only $58.99, you will get 500 pieces.

      Birch-wood utensils

These utensils are an environmentally-friendly alternative to plastic and are compostable, which makes them a much better choice for consumers that care about the earth. They’re completely organic and smooth, with no coatings, bleach, or dye. Each knife, spoon, and fork feels as comfortable to eat off of as any plastic utensil and as sturdy as metal utensils.

      Straws

Despite what you may think, there are so many biodegradable options for straws out there that it’s a bit overwhelming. And the best option is Compostable Paper Kraft Straws!

      Napkins

Parties should practically come with a side of napkins, but all those paper napkins get wasted and end up in the landfill. So compostable napkins are the logical choice here – Caboo Tree-Free Bamboo Paper Napkins are a combination of bamboo and sugarcane, which makes them both strong and soft.

      Decoration

Parties always need to look pretty – but, unfortunately, most decorations end up being landfill fillers and animal killers. Nobody wants that. So if you’re throwing a party and are on the hunt for decorations, consider eco-friendly glitter, flowers leave as confetti, or try making some decorations out of something repurposed yourself.

      Food

We think we can all agree that the best part of a party is the food. Whether you're serving vegans, vegetarians, or people who love meat, it's still possible to center vegetables in your food. You can experiment with reducing your meat consumption by using some plant-based meat alternatives alongside animal-based products. There are plenty of seasonal vegetables with plenty of protein that is sure to satisfy all tastebuds.

Whichever type of party you throw, remember to enjoy yourself and celebrate all the hard work you’ve put in over the last year. Cheers!

      End Of Summer Bash

Summer is rapidly coming to an end, but that doesn't mean we have to wait until the next Holiday to celebrate. On the contrary, now is the perfect time to host one more fun event before summer goes by - A Perfect End Of Summer Bash. Since we are spending most of our time home staying safe and practicing social distancing, why not make the best of this time partying and celebrating the end of summer with our closest family members and loved ones.

Eco Party Warehouse's advice for throwing a perfect end-of-summer bash and for ensuring your friends soak up the last and best that the summer season has to offer is to throw the party in the time of the sunsets. With its longer days, summer is a time when people stay up late more often to enjoy the evenings. That's why Eco Party Warehouse comes to an idea to plan a fun nighttime party - Wine and Cheese Night! Which is for me probably the single best party there is!

There is something SO great about nibbling cheese and sipping wine with friends.  Seriously I could wine and cheese every weekend!  And in the summer, there’s just a no better way to spend a warm and sunny evening - so that’s exactly what we did! And the best part? A wine and cheese party is one of the easiest and most elegant parties to throw together!

Eco Party Warehouse prepared a few tips to ensure your party provides your guests with enough memories to last until summer rolls around again and to show you how to use Eco Party Warehouse’s biodegradable dinnerware in a way that will take your Wine and Cheese Night to the next level.

Keep Things SimplePutting together a wine and cheese party doesn’t have to be stressful! In fact, these parties are not complicated if you just stick to the basics! As long as you have great cheese, wine, and great friends, you are guaranteed a fantastic time! Just remember, the simpler - the better.

Choose Great Quality Cheeses - Putting together a cheese plate is simple when you mix and match your favorite cheeses. Variety creates a delicious table of color, texture, and taste, and that makes everyone’s taste buds happy.

Choose a Perfect Wine - Once you have the cheeses picked out, start looking for wine. For the wines, start with light wines to go with the milder cheeses then move on to stronger cheeses and more full-bodied varieties.

Set It All Up In One Easy To Access Spot - One of the first products I highly recommend is Eco Party Warehouse's Palm Leaf Plates. These fantastic plates come in big sizes to display fine cheeses and also in smaller sizes for your guests to load up. You can also use the Palm Leaf Bowls for any crackers or bread you plan to set out. Also, you should use Eco Party Warehouse’s birch knives to make your party look particularly modern, stylish, and practical!

Now all you have to do is relax and visit with your guests!

      Zero Waste Back To School

With your kiddos heading back to school, you’re facing a wealth of emotions: happiness, sadness, excitement, and maybe even nervousness of what the new school year will bring. And there is shopping! Shop for new school supplies has always been an exciting time for most kids (and many adults!). Although, for parents and adults who are aiming to keep school sustainable though, it can bring a sense of dread! Plastic packaging, toxic components, and boxes of unused junk, oh my!
For parents looking to use more environmentally-friendly options to make it a green start to the school year, Eco Party Warehouse is here to help you gear up for a new academic year waste-free with some eco-friendly school supplies that will keep you prepared for even the most daunting assignments.

Many schools and classrooms are trying to move towards zero-waste options when it comes to kids' lunches. Make a waste-free lunch and make a difference!

The following is a list of some of Eco Party Warehouse's favorite eco-friendly school supplies to help your kids have a happy, sustainable school year.

      Disposable Eco-Friendly Cutlery

Encouraging kids to carry—and use—their own set of disposable eco-friendly cutlery, can help put a dent in the amount of single-use plastic waste we generate. Cutlery pieces (forks, knives, and spoons) made from completely natural resources - palm leaves and birch wood - from Eco Party Warehouse are super convenient for your child to throw in his backpack, and super friendly to the Earth, since our cutlery is fully biodegradable and commercially compostable!

      An adorable eco-friendly lunch plate

This adorable palm leaf lunch plate is perfect for little ones just starting school. BPA-free and made of palm leaves, the plate is compostable, biodegradable, leak-proof, and features a removable three-compartment lunch tray. It's also super-durable and suitable to be used directly in microwave ovens and fridges, releasing no toxic substance.

A sustainable way to bring snacks

For snacks that are easily squished, Eco Party Warehouse's palm leaf bowls are a great alternative. They're stackable for simple storage and easy to pack anywhere you go. The best part might be just how durable they are, in case your little one has clumsy fingers.

A sandwich bag that can be used again and again

Reusable sandwich bags are an eco-friendly alternative to the traditional plastic zip bags. They're dishwasher safe and can also be thrown in the washing machine. The only downside is that you might have to remind your kids to bring them home at the end of the day.

To help, Eco Party Warehouse has also prepared a few strategies for sustainable, low, or zero waste school stationery and supplies:

      1. Use what you already have. Scrounge up loose pens and forgotten notebooks (they’re usually full of mostly blank pages!).
      2. For things you know you no longer need, consider donating any school supplies that still have a useful life, and recycling those that don’t.
      3. See what you can find secondhand. Look for secondhand online school supplies like books, graphing calculators, and technology.
      4. For anything you weren’t able to check off with the first two, buy new (but sustainable and environmentally friendly).

Use shopping for eco-friendly back to school supplies as an opportunity to start teaching your kids about conscious consumerism.

Ain't No Party Like A Sushi Party

Dazzle your friends by being the “hostess with the sushi most-ess”!

The summer party season is now in full swing! And although you may think that there’s nothing like a summer grill-out, there are many other ways to entertain al fresco when summer heat drives you out of your kitchen. Eco Party Warehouse has a fabulous idea for you! A Sensational Summer Sushi Party!

The Japanese adopted these strange foreign foods to suit their own tastes, shaking it all up with ingredients and flavors both familiar and comforting to them - and doozy! Newly blended cuisine was born.

Sushi and sake present a perfect pairing for a hot summer night. Not only is the light fare what most people crave when it’s warm, but entertaining with a spread of sushi fixings means you don’t need to step near an oven or grill during the party.

Don’t get intimidated – rolling sushi is 100x easier than it looks! Your rolls might not come out 5-star restaurant-worthy on the first try but it won’t be long before you’re creations are so pretty you’ll want to Instagram them!

      Ingredients:

      • Sushi rice, recipe follows
      • Nori

      Possible filling ingredients:

      • Carrot, julienned
      • Orange and red bell peppers, julienned
      • Cucumber, julienned (Chinese B without seeds, or regular is also ok)
      • Asparagus
      • Avocado
      • Scallions, julienned

      Garnishes:

      • Black sesame seeds
      • White sesame seeds
      • Black sesame seeds/salt combination

      Sushi rice:

      Directions:

Step 1: Place a half sheet of nori horizontally in front of you on your mat. Place rice on the left third of nori, leaving a border of nori all around. Place filling ingredients vertically across the middle of the rice. Fold near the corner of nori over to begin folding into a cone shape. Continue to roll until the cone is formed.
Step 2: Serve with pickled ginger, wasabi, and soy sauce as condiments.

      Sushi rice:

Step 3: Rinse the rice in water until the water runs clear and then drain in a colander for 1 hour. Place the drained rice in a rice cooker or a pot with a tight-fitting lid and add 4 cups of water. Over medium heat, cover, and bring the water to a boil. Boil for about 2 minutes, reduce heat and allow to simmer for another 5 minutes. Reduce heat to low and cook for about 15 minutes, or until water has been absorbed. Remove from the heat, remove the lid, and place a towel over the pot. Replace lid and let stand for 10 to 15 minutes.

Step 4: While the rice cooks, combine vinegar, sugar, and remaining 1/4 cup water in a saucepan. Heat over low temperatures, stirring, until sugar and salt dissolve. Let cool.

Step 5: Empty rice into a hangiri (or other nonmetallic) tub and spread it evenly over the bottom with a shamoji (or large wooden spoon). Run the spatula through the rice in slicing motions to separate the grains. While doing this, slowly add vinegar mixture. Add only as much as is necessary; the rice should not be mushy.

Step 6: Do not refrigerate the rice. Keep it in the tub covered with a clean cloth until ready to use. The rice will last one day.

Step 7: Complete the experience by serving sushi on completely compostable and fully biodegradable Eco Party Warehouse plates.  Our fantastic sushi plates are not only aesthetically pleasing, but durable as well.

Step 8: Next pile on all your favorite toppings and set up a few sauces in fabulous Eco Party Warehouse palm leaf bowls for dunking.

      Step 9: Enjoy!

We can’t have homemade sushi without some not-so-secret sauces!

Be creative and add anything that floats your sushi boat! There are endless combinations of ingredients, toppings, and sauces to choose from!

Eco Party Warehouse delicious sauces recommendation:

      • Spicy Mayo
      • Eel Sauce
      • Soy Sauce
      • Ponzu Sauce
      • Sriracha Chili Sauce

      Eco Party Warehouse tip:

Create a signature sip. Good sake is always lovely, but cocktails infused with Asian flavors invoke a festive vibe. Or if time is short, reach for something bubbly – beer, ginger ale, sparkling wine, and even Perrier with a twist of citrus or a fruit garnish feels instantly like a party.

We LOVE making this homemade sushi and hope y’all do too!
