      World Nature Conservation Day

If you are an environmental activist like us in the Eco Party Warehouse, then the 28th of July is your day. World Nature Conservation Day is observed all over the world on July 28 of every year, and the objective of this day is so vital that must be celebrated. It is observed to create awareness about protecting and conserving natural resources. World Nature Conservation Day recognizes that a healthy environment is a foundation for a stable and productive society. We all depend on natural resources like water, air, soil, minerals, trees, animals, food, and gas to live our daily lives, and to keep the balance in the natural world and to ensure the well-being of present and future generations, we all must participate to protect, conserve, and sustainably manage our natural resources.

Nature is everywhere… The world is Nature. We are Nature.

Natural resources are exploited in many ways for the greed of humans. We have made this planet a world of steel and concrete to sustain humanity but at the cost of other species. Earth, water, air, and sky have been facing a lot of problems by human beings, such as deforestation, illegal trade in wildlife, pollution, plastics use, chemicals, industrial developments, and many more. But we must finally understand that if Nature is well, then human beings, as well as animals in the world, are safe.  So the necessity of nature conservation is very important, and to protect nature we have to come forward voluntarily. It is not possible for a single candidate or government. Protection of Nature depends upon collective efforts. We have to sensitize the issue and make propaganda causes of environmental problems. Every human being should try to protect nature and its allies for the sake of future generations as well as society.  We all live on this planet, and we all need the resources our planet offers. Therefore, on this World Nature Conservation Day, make a conscious effort to contribute to conserving nature and save it for the present and future generations by raising awareness among people all over the world to understand the importance of saving resources, recycle it, preserve it and also understand the consequences of damaging it.

Eco Party Warehouse Methods to Conserve the Environment:

      Plant a tree:

Planting trees for the environment is good as they are renewable, biodegradable, and recyclable.

Use only biodegradable and compostable tableware:

Avoiding the use of plastics is very important that it will make a huge difference in saving the green. Eco Party Warehouse tableware, made from biodegradable materials (palm leaves, bagasse, and birch), are more environmentally friendly because these do not leave behind toxic chemicals or residues. Also, our dinnerware pieces degrade over time, releasing earth-friendly nutrients back into the soil.

      Conserve the Water:

Conservation of water means careful and economical use of water. We should conserve water as it is a precious natural resource.

      Reduce the use of electricity:

If we reduce energy consumption, then power plants will need to produce less electricity and thus reducing the number of fossil fuels burned every day.

      Use Less Paper:

We must try to use less paper as far as it is possible. The benefit of reducing paper consumption is saving the world.

      Grow vegetables:

In the available market, vegetables are grown with chemicals and pesticides. So, it is better to plant vegetables and eat organic food.

      Don't smoke:

Smoking is injurious to health, and sometimes it is seen that people after smoking don't throw cigarettes in the dustbin but on the ground directly, which is just pure littering.

      Spread Awareness:

We should understand the importance and value of our natural resources.

Just appreciate the gift of nature and enjoy them to the fullest without harming them

The world is beautiful because of its natural resources so it is our duty to preserve it.

Have a Happy World Nature Conservation Day!

Fun And Eco-Friendly Kids' Summer Birthday Party

July is here bringing in the sweet summer sunshine, blooming flowers, and the perfect environment for an enchanting outdoorsy birthday party.

As soon as you become a parent, you begin to notice bottles, plates, cups, spoons, teethers, toys, strollers - and more in all shapes, colors, and forms of plastic. And then comes to the birthday party! You must be wondering if a birthday party can be a memorable celebration of another year in your child’s life without turning into a wasteland of cheap plastic, rubbish food, and wanton commercialism? After the laughing, screaming, bouncy house jumping, and maybe a little crying (ok maybe a lot), your little one’s special day has come to an end. When frosting has been cleaned from tired little faces, what remains at your house or party place is this: trash!!! Before you give in to the birthday carbon footprint stomp, read on. We’ll show you how to plan an eco-friendly party, from invitations to party favors! With a few simple, inexpensive tweaks, you can turn your kiddo’s moment in the sun into a definitively green big day.

The following Eco Party Warehouse tips will be your guide to throwing the best green birthday party ever:

      - Invites -

Honestly, sending printed party invites is not just wasteful but also outdated. Instead of printing out invitations on expensive papers and sending them out to each guest, why not save the paper and send out a fancy email, an event, create a Facebook event or even simply pick-up the phone and invite your friends and family.

      Food -

One of the biggest sources of waste at birthday parties is food, and this is where you can be eco-friendly. Buying fresh ingredients instead of packaged foods can be a great way to cut down on waste.

      - Presents -

Try to avoid your child being given excessively packaged, battery-powered, or short-lived plastic toys. So many of those toys will never, ever break down into a landfill. And many of them came from China and are loaded with plastic toxins. To keep the focus on getting together with friends rather than ending up with a load of plastic packaging and cheap tat that soon ends up in the bin, add a note to your party invitations to bring your child a plastic-free gift, or eco-friendly gift, or perhaps to bring a pre-loved toy or book that is in good condition, rather than buying something new.

      - Decoration -

Instead of hanging streamers, banners, and balloons, the best way to use green party decoration is to make your own out of unwanted recyclable or reusable materials at home. Party hats and banners can be made using old cardboard, construction paper, or even with a cloth. Get creative with your decorations and allow your guests to help by coloring their party hats.

      - Dinnerware -

If you want to go green without putting aside any disposables, biodegradable, eco-friendly natural tableware would be a nice compromise – you’ll reduce the amount of plastic litter and set the rustic tone to your party at the same time. And the best place to look for premium disposable dinnerware and flatware is the Eco Party WarehouseLater they can be composted, put in your worm farm, or buried in the garden.

      - Games -

Use materials already available at the party to play games. For instance, use chairs to play musical chairs and offer a small eco-friendly prize for the winner. Also, you can utilize chalk to play hopscotch, or you can recycle old newspapers in your home to make a piñata.

      - Cake -

It is always greener, healthier endeavor to make a homemade birthday cake using organic ingredients. Also, try to keep food color-free where possible — even though food colors are edible, they are artificial.

      - Birthday Candles -

The best birthday candles are those made from pure beeswax. Unlike all other waxes, they actually improve air quality - and if they drip into the birthday cake it isn't harmful to them.

      - Party Favors -

What kid needs another plastic toy or tchotchke that’s made in China? Bestow a meaningful party favor on revelers that may be enjoyed as a lasting memory of the special day. An awesome eco party favor idea is to ask guests to bring a gently used children’s book to exchange. Place the books in a box by the door and let kids pick out a ‘new’ book to take home as they’re leaving the party.

As we said, it doesn't have to be too hard! Going green and especially teaching kids from when they are young, goes a long way. We think that it’s super important to talk with our kids about how to throw a sustainable party that will be fun for everyone while also being good for the environment. Kids are much more understanding and adaptable than we may think.

We hope this inspires you to make positive changes, perhaps starting with hosting a sustainable kids' birthday party!

Cooling And Creative Summer Refreshment Recipe

      Flower Pot Ice Cream

Sweet summertime is here! Welcome the warm weather by chilling next to the poolside and spending pleasant evenings under the clear sky refreshing with the most delicious desserts! There is no better way to celebrate Earth, organize an eco-friendly summer party, and satisfy your sweet tooth during National Ice Cream Month in July than with these delicious and fun Flower Pot Ice Cream Cake

Desserts are tasty, refreshing, pretty, and fun to make and intended to spoil ourselves! And who doesn’t love ice cream? Ice cream is a classic dessert for good reasons! It’s obviously super easy and tasty, and there's just something wonderfully indulgent and pleasing about eating a cold, sweet dessert on a hot summer day. Fresh, fun, whimsical, playful, perfectly yummy, and full of flavor, this is the best ice cream cake recipe you’ll ever make at home, and it will make all your guests smile.

And do you know what the BEST part about ice cream dessert, besides it being creamy, cold, and delicious all year round? No oven is required to prepare this sweet treat. With summer in session, the last thing you want to be doing is baking or prepping desserts. It’s way too hot for that!

      Ingredients:

      • 1 whole Pound Cake
      • 1 gallon of any flavored ice cream (chocolate would be the most realistic, but any flavor is fine if you don't want a chocolate overload)
      • 1 package Oreo Cookies (your dirt)
      • 1 package Gummy Worms

      Special Equipment You'll Need:

      • 6 Small Clay Flower Pots, Lead-free
      • 6 Paper Straws
      • Fake flowers
      • 6 paper towels
      • 6 spoons

      Directions:

Step 1: Clean the flower pots - Scrub with warm soapy water to remove any dirt, knowing you would soon be eating from them as bowls. Rinse with hot water, and let the pots dry thoroughly (it may take several hours).

Step 2: If you are using an actual terracotta plant pot, I would suggest wrapping some clingfilm/saran wrap around the inside of the pot and cover the bottom. You might also want to put a whole Oreo on top of the hole in the bottom of the flower pot so that the ice cream does not leak out.

Step 3: Slice the pound cake (frozen is fine) into 1 to 1 ½ inch slices. Next, with a biscuit cutter or cookie cutter that fits the bottom of the flower pot, cut the slices into rounds.

Step 4: Into each of your pots, drop a round of pound cake, lightly pressing to make sure they are down. Hold a straw up against the side of a flowerpot and snip it, so it’s about ½ to 1 inch shorter than the top. Then, use that as a guide to cut the rest of the straws. Stick each straw into the center of each pot, anchoring it into the cake.

Step 5: Now, grab whatever flavor ice cream you’d like to use, and either set it out on the counter to soften it or nuke it for 20 seconds or so. It needs to be slightly soft for this step. Just spoon it into the pots, working it around the straw, until it almost reaches the very tip-top of the straw. Clean up the top edges of the pot with a damp paper towel. Now return the pots to the freezer until firm.

Step 6: In a food processor, pulse the Oreo cookies until they resemble nice, rich topsoil. (You can also crush them in a Ziploc bag with a rolling pin). When they are nice and firm, take the pots out of the freezer and spoon the dirt (crushed Oreos) over the top. Be generous here!

Step 7:  Place some cleaned fake flowers (I ran mine under hot water and let them dry on a towel), and insert them into “dirt”.

Step 8: After you stick in flower, go ahead and spoon more cookie crumbs up against the top of the straw and garnish with gummy worms.

Step 9: When you’re ready to serve the beauties, put the pots on a pretty tray, along with napkins and spoons, and watch everyone's face as you serve them their flower pots!

There you have it. A dessert that is fun and easy to make, super adorable, creamy, refreshing, and delicious to eat.

Whether it’s to recognize a special birthday or cool down the crowds at a backyard bash, this fun dessert is perfect for all ages to enjoy.

The thing you will need most is your creativity! That is what makes it fun!

There is no doubt that the most awaited holiday of the season – Independence Day calls for special decor to usher in the cheerful festive flair. So, rather than buying Fourth of July decor from big box stores, why not be eco-friendly and create your own? Sadly, most people often use decorations once and then throw them out. But they can be reused year after year! So, this year, after the party’s over, take the time to store and save your decorations.  You or someone you know can use it again next year, which will keep it out of the landfill. As an added bonus, you can also reuse this fantastic decoration for Memorial Day, Flag Day, or Labor Day decor.

Supplies for DIY Fourth of July Patriotic Wreath:

      • Box of paper straws
      • Craft ring
      • Blue paper (and some practice paper)
      • Scissors
      • Hot-glue gun
      • Pipe cleaners

How to Make a Patriotic Wreath:

Step 1: Trim the straws to your desired length and glue them to the craft ring.

Step 2: Cut out stars and fold each point to the center.

Step 3: Next, start gluing the straws down with hot glue to the craft ring in your chosen pattern. Be sure to line the ends of the straws up with the inside edge of the craft ring. Also, the straws need to be glued very close together, but slightly angled. Meaning the start of the straws will touch but will fan out away from the previous straw.

Step 4: Continue gluing the straws down until the entire craft ring is covered.

Step 5: Hot-glue one end of a pipe cleaner to the back, and wrap the other end around the straws where you want to place the star.

Destruction of Nature And Rise Of Pandemics

We are witnessing the worst pandemic of the last hundred years right now. But it did not happen by sheer coincidence. While the virus was certainly not engineered in a laboratory, this doesn't mean we haven't played a role in the current pandemic. COVID-19 is the latest example of how human impingement on natural habitats, biodiversity loss, wildlife habitats, and ecosystem degradation linked to the spread of infectious diseases.

As people move further into the territories of wild animals to clear forests, cut the trees, raise livestock,  kill the animals or cage them and send them to markets, we are increasingly exposed to the pathogens that normally never leave these places and the bodies they inhabit. When that happens, they need a new host. Often, we are it.  So, by disrupting ecosystems, our behavior and disrespect for nature created the conditions that allow animal viruses to cross over into human populations, which means the only person at fault here is us.

The situation in the future will only get worse if we continue like this. We need green and healthy recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic! We must value nature as the basis of a healthy society instead of persistently trying to save and make money by destroying the environment.

Going forward, we could, however, be more sensible and careful than we are, and we should remember that wildlife is not a threat to us. This is the moment to rise and find a better way to live together safely! Prosperity for people and the planet is possible only if we make bold decisions today, so that future generations can survive and thrive. And the solution is straightforward. If you restore the land, the forests, and the oceans, then you’ll restore the natural processes!

Everything is linked together - the COVID-19 pandemic demonstrates how much we depend on one another – one humanity living on one planet - therefore, we should embrace the "One Health" concept - the idea that the health of animals, the ecosystem, and humans are all interlinked, and when one is out of balance, others follow suit. The lesson for humanity is not to be afraid of nature which sustains us and from whence we originated, but rather to restore it, embrace it and understand how to live with and benefit from it. We can start by curbing habitat and especially tropical forest destruction and controlling (ideally to the point of elimination), curbing the loss of species - by addressing threats, curbing wildlife trafficking and closing markets and outlets - and halving our ecological footprint, and of course, fighting climate change by transitioning to clean energy.

We are hoping that the experience of the coronavirus crisis will teach us all a lesson that, yes, this was uncomfortable, but we can cope and that we as a society can get through these things if we make some changes, and we will hopefully be aware how nature conservation in every corner of the world keeps everyone safe – from diseases, extreme weather, and war.

Most importantly, take care of yourself, stay safe, and hold your loved ones close.
